L.D. Russo

About

L.D. Russo, Inc. was founded in 1977 by Lou Russo. Lou’s family were Italian immigrants to Boston and he grew up in Waltham. The company first started as a painting business, and Lou grew the business to include general contracting, sitework, and property development.

Continuing the family legacy, Lou’s daughter Elena Russo and her husband, Nat Coughlin, have stepped into the leadership role. Elena and Nat met at Middlebury College, studying Molecular Biology/Biochemistry and Political science, respectively. Though construction (or marriage for that matter) weren’t the first things on their minds back in college, Elena and Nat are inspired by their team, their clients, and the substantial impact they can have through the construction business.

Since Elena rose to CEO, the company has become a woman owned business and embarked on a new path of growth and expansion to better serve our clients and community.

Who we are

Elena Russo

L.D. Russo was founded just a few months after Elena was born, and she started ‘helping out’ at the company at a very young age. She learned how to read a set of plans and maintain certified payroll reports around the same time she was learning algebra in junior high school. The family company was a constant teacher and employer in her life all throughout high school and into college.

After graduating college, Elena ventured away to exotic Maryland and worked in the education, healthcare, and non-profit sectors before returning to her roots: New England and L.D. Russo. Elena takes great pride in her team’s ability to make positive impacts in our communities, whether it’s creating community spaces, affordable housing, or public-service buildings. Outside of work, Elena loves to hike in the mountains, row on the Merrimack River, and spend time cooking and eating with her family.

About Us

Nat Coughlin

Nat began his career as a high school Spanish teacher before being recruited by a concrete company in Baltimore to help organize safety initiatives for their bilingual workforce. From there, he quickly rose through the ranks at one of the largest concrete construction contractors on the East Coast. When Nat and his wife Elena moved their young family to Massachusetts, he took what was supposed to be a “temporary” role with Lou Russo at L.D. Russo.

Eighteen years later, Nat is still here, and we’re incredibly lucky to have him!! Outside of work, Nat is a talented musician, an adventurous backcountry skier, and an avid trail runner and sailor. He enjoys spending time with Elena and their teenage kids, making the most of every season.
